Local Transportation
South Padre Island offers free shuttle on the island called The Wave. The shuttle makes many stops on the island and goes to Port Isabel as well. More information on the wave can be obtained by calling (956) 761-1025.

WAVE Route: South on Padre Blvd, west over the causeway into Port Isabel (Lighthouse, Library, Las Palmas Plaza, Museum), back over the causeway to the island, north to the Convention Centre along Gulf Blvd, turning around to begin again south down Padre Blvd.

 

The Wave connects to the Rio Gulf Coast Shuttle in Port Isabel near Church's Chicken in the Las Palmas Shopping Center at the intersection of Hwy 48 & Hwy 100. This service allows persons to travel directly between South Padre Island and the Port of Brownsville, the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, and downtown Brownsville's Market Square and the Brownsville Urban BUS system.

Beach chairs are available inside the condo. If you need additional chairs or umbrellas, they can be rented from following places.

One umbrella and two chairs cost about $20/day. They will set up the chairs and umbrella for you. You can call them in advance to book the chairs but it is usually not required. They have a location in Sun Chase complex which is behind Summit, so if you need chairs right away, you can pick them up.

Bird Watching

Laguna Madre Nature Trail

 

 

 

Next to the Convention Centre and Whaling Wall No. 53, the Laguna Madre Nature Trail is a 1,500-foot boardwalk that extends across four acres of wetlands. Containing informative signs about dune systems and bird species that frequent the area, the nature trail provides visitors with the opportunity to observe many species of birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
